Adin – If you’re tired of waiting on mashed sweet tater deliveries, here’s all you need to do to make them on your own.
- Get some sweet potatoes.
- Set your air fryer at 390 degrees (fahrenheit) and start it up while empty so to warm it up. I usually let it go about 3 minutes.
- Score the sweet potatoes with a fork a few times so they have a way to release heat while they’re cooking.
- Brush them with some high-temp oil (avocado, grapeseed, canola, e.g.).
- Pop the potatoes into your air fryer. Cook ’em for 50 minutes at 390ºF.
- Bonus wisdom: Make sure you’re cooking in a room with decent ventilation. You will be smelling sweet taters.
- When the potatoes are done cooking, let them sit and cool for at least 30 minutes. But probably not more than an hour. You want them cool enough to handle, but not so cool it’s hard to separate the meat of the tater from the skin. Unless you want to eat the skins.
- Once the taters are cooled, slice them in half. Then I usually just squeeze and peel the skin off. Other times I’ll scoop out the good stuff in the middle and not mess with the skin, but this is messier, even though you preserve micrograms more of the tater good stuff.
- Pop it all in a container. Let it cool down to room temperature. Pop that in your fridge or freezer.
